Service Description

This workshop is available for schools looking for strategies to introduce more laughter into the classroom environment, make lessons more engaging, and strengthen relationships . The workshop is for staff rather than students and is perfect for INSET days, faculty/departmental training, or as professional development for your initial teacher trainees and induction year NQT's. Research shows empirical research show that more laughter in to the classroom can… - Engage students and stimulate interest - Create ‘educational immediacy’ to enhance student/teacher relationships - Increase comprehension, retention and performance - Be a successful tool for managing conflict, difficult situations or sensitive content (when used correctly and effectively) - Improve the perception of the classroom environment, resulting in a positive impact on attitude to learning, absence, punctuality and disaffection - Increase concentration, alertness, creativity, divergent thinking and problem solving skills - Help pupils to reduce stress, tension and anxiety - Make learning more fun The workshop will share evidence to show the above benefits that laughter can have when correctly used in the learning process. It will explore the effective forms of humour to engage pupils and that complement and enhance learning which, evidence shows, can have a dramatic impact on grades. It will also examine the (surprisingly common) forms of humour used in the classroom which (unknowingly) have a negative impact on learning and performance. We will also explore strategies to create a happier, more mindful classroom, develop greater emotional resilience and support students' mental health and wellbeing. The session is delivered by a fully certified and accredited (DBS checked) Laughter Therapist, who is an experienced INSET facilitator, Lead Practitioner / Advanced Skills Teacher and former primary and secondary schools Initial Teacher Trainer with nearly 30 years experience working with primary, secondary and FE students. If you wish to combine this workshop with either our 'Laughter For Teaching' training session, or any of our other staff or student workshops, contact us with your requirements and we will provide you with a discounted quote and bespoke package to suit.**
